Our Hiring Process
Propellerhead is home to over sixty world-class software developers, problem solvers and thinkers.
We believe job satisfaction and working with like-minded people, dedicated to their craft, is essential. It's important that our environment is one that you're likely to thrive within and over the last 25 years we have refined our recruitment processes, designing each step in the process to help us get to know you, what you value and ensure the fit is right on both sides.
We are able to conduct the majority of the process online, however we highly value meeting all potential team members in person, so this always forms the last stage in the application process prior to any offers being made.
The propellerhead team is filled with bright, kind and incredibly talented people from all around the world and we look forward to learning more about you.
First step: Application Review
Once an application is received our People team and technical screeners review the CV for appropriate skills and experience.
Next step: One-Way Video
This is a very easy step where we have a small series simple pre-recorded questions, none of them technical, and we get your feedback on them as a video recording. This is purely designed to 'meet' you for the first time :)
Next step: Thomas Assessments
We use a set of assessments to augment the process of learning about you and the kind of environment in which you’d thrive. There are no right or wrong answers with these and assessments are never the deciding factor, rather, they contribute to our holistic review process. They don't take long.
Next step: Technical Assessment
If you've applied for a developer role, we'll give you a straightforward technical assessment which you have 5 days to complete. Please note, this step is not always necessary and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Second-to-last step: Technical Chat
One of our technical screeners jumps on a call with you, talking through some of your previous work and asking questions about how you make decisions. Roughly half an hour to 45 minutes. :)
Last step: In-Person Interview
The final step will be meeting you in person to purely learn more about you (no technical questions). If this goes well, you'll receive an offer! There are two options for this, either meeting us in Europe (Paris) when our team are there early next year (likely April or May), or travelling to New Zealand to interview at our offices in Auckland.
Travel + Relocation Arrangement and Costs
While Propellerhead doesn’t offer financial assistance for travel or relocation, we will work with you every step of the way to make the process as easy and flexible as possible!
We operate on a guiding principle that significant decisions (especially those as impactful as relocating across continents) should not be solely motivated by financial considerations. Moving to NZ represents a substantial commitment for both you and Propellerhead and being driven by a broader set of values and motivations like health, wellbeing, and an amazing lifestyle are just as (if not more) important. :-)
That said, we are committed to paying competitive salaries, having beautifully set up offices and offering a rich and supportive environment to learn, grow and flourish within.
We’re looking forward to meeting you + welcome you to reach out if you have any questions!
